Our July Newsletter features WGN and local community news
Our WGN July Newsletter is now out and ready to read/download through the link.
Features include:
-
Our Manager, Samantha Day’s, fantastic Great Manchester Run fundraiser which has raised over £500 for Wythenshawe Good Neighbours. Thanks and well done to her!
- Keeping well hydrated and nourished as you get older may sound elementary, but health stats show that older adults aged 65 and over can be malnourished or at risk of malnutrition. Similarly, the thirst sensation can decrease as we age, making it easier for dehydration to go unnoticed.
- The national Home Upgrade Grants Scheme, Phase 2 (known as the HUG2 programme). How to check eligibility through Next Energy (appointed by Manchester City Council). The scheme is open to low-income homeowners and private renters who do not have gas central heating and whose homes have a low energy efficiency rating.
- Fare Shop at Crossacres Resource Centre – a small, charitable shop providing basic groceries and household items to people in need. Details of how to shop there, what’s available and when it’s open.
- Thrive Manchester leisurely walks in the local community on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
- A reminder about our own weekly WGN Community Coffee Mornings and Lunch.
Do you have a suggestion or idea regarding content for our Newsletter, such as activities or support services suitable for older residents in Wythenshawe? If ‘yes’, we’d love to hear from you; contact Kathryn at WGNresilience@outlook.com
