Raising funds for WGN – go Samantha at the Great Manchester Run
Wythenshawe Good Neighbours manager, Samantha, will be lacing up her trainers for the 2024 Great Manchester Run on Sunday 26 May.
She is taking part in the city’s famous 10k (just over six miles) to raise funds for our community activities for older residents. Samantha said of her fundraising endeavour:
“I’m very proud to be doing the Great Manchester Run 10k this year, raising funds for our community group, Wythenshawe Good Neighbours. Training is going well and I’m hoping to equal, if not beat, my last time.”
Help us ‘spread the word’ as Samantha aims to reach her fundraising target of £250. Money raised will help us to bring costs down for a summer coach trip, so that our Members can enjoy a welcome and much-needed change of scene, with company and chats along the way. Members are currently voting on their preferred destination, with Blackpool, Chester and Llandudno in the running!
They really enjoyed last summer’s trip to Blackpool, and here’s what some had to say.

“We had a great day. (You could) Do as much or as little as you wanted.” – Janet
“I enjoyed sitting in the Winter Gardens, listening to the singer (free) in such a beautiful Art Deco building.” – Eileen
“Re-living our youth in the Penny Arcade.” – Val (responding to what was the highlight of the trip)
“It gets us out!” – Rita
If you, or anybody you know, would like to make a donation (any amount is very welcome), please go to Samantha’s GoFundMe page here.
Thank you (and to those who have already donated). We really appreciate your support.
