Laughter Yoga wellbeing experience for our lunch group
Sara from Serious Laughter joined our Tuesday lunch group at Northenden Social Club to deliver a Laughter Yoga ‘taster’ session.
The uplifting half hour session was enjoyed by around 20 older people, most of whom were new to the idea of laughter therapy for positive wellbeing. Sara’s gentle and enthusiastic approach ensured that we felt comfortable taking part in such a fun experience. It was great to feel the power of a good laugh and a giggle.
The Serious Laughter website explains that Laughter Yogo is a ‘special wellbeing routine…with unique techniques used to create laughter – which soon becomes genuine – meaning, there’s absolutely no need to be happy to laugh.’ Therefore, it’s a great stress-buster and a nurturing way to promote emotional resilience.
You can read our review of the session, and here’s what some of our members had to say about their Laughter Yoga experience:
- “Different but enjoyable.”
- “The session is very positive and very relevant for today and the world we live in. Well done Sara!”
- “Really enjoyed the session. Simple exercises I can do anywhere. Thank you.”
