We are hiring: Volunteer Drivers Scheme Assistant (re-advertised)
We are hiring for a new role at Wythenshawe Good Neighbours: a Volunteer Drivers Scheme Assistant.
2-year, fixed-term contract: 21 hrs per week (over 3 days)
£12,558 per annum (£11.50 per hour, FTE £20,930)
Workplace pension (employer contributes: 3%). Working mileage: 45p per mile
Background information:
As a community interest initiative (led by our volunteer Board and run by a small team, with volunteer help) we promote wellbeing and reduce social isolation in later life by supporting older people to connect to their community. We do this through activities such as:
- a social eating programme
- day-trips
- regular newsletter
- practical resilience resource
- information/skills-sharing opportunities and sign-posting to local services, activities and events.
From 2023, this will also be achieved through WGN’s Volunteer Drivers Scheme, developed as an accessible way to support our older members with getting to and from health/other appointments, organised activities and social engagements across Wythenshawe.
The role:
The Volunteer Drivers Scheme Assistant will support the set-up, launch and development of the scheme, including contributing to volunteer coordination and booking/scheduling – using bespoke software. The post holder will also be a driver as part of the role – to connect older residents to their local community.
This is a great opportunity for a confident and careful driver with strong admin skills. Suitable for somebody who is keen to help improve quality of life for older residents, working with partners, stakeholders and networks across Wythenshawe.
