September Newsletter: read about our Volunteer Drivers Scheme
WGN September Newsletter
Our Drivers Scheme will help to combat transport challenges, social isolation and impacts of the cost-of-living crisis for older people.
During the initial 5-month pilot, priority will be given to taking people to/from local health, legal and financial appointments. As the scheme grows, and more volunteer drivers are recruited, journeys will include taking members to social engagements, activities and events across Wythenshawe.
We’re recruiting Volunteer Drivers. If you’re interested, or you know somebody who might be, you can find out about the role and how to apply here.
Other features in the September issue include:
- an introduction to the newest member of our team, our Volunteer Drivers Scheme Assistant – Helen
- photos from our fabulous August trips to Castlefield Viaduct in Manchester (pictured), and Blackpool
- what’s new in our local community – including:
– a new riverside Coffee Shop (‘Common Ground’) in Northenden– our founder/director, Marie Greenhalgh’s new radio show on Wythenshawe FM. The show focuses on women and their experiences of all things work (including getting work later in life), pension inequality, leisure-life, creativity in retirement, music, and lots more.
