WGN’s April Newsletter – our updates; Age Friendly news & more
Our April Newsletter features Age Friendly Manchester and Wythenshawe news, plus our own WGN updates and more. Features include:
- Photos and very positive WGN Member reviews of our International Women’s Day (IWD) activities (funded by Manchester City Council as part of the city-wide IWD celebrations). Namely, a talk by professional Heritage Consultant, Dympna Gould, focusing on several inspiring Manchester women and a trip to the famous 19th century novelist, Elizabeth Gaskell’s House.
- An update on our new WGN Membership and Volunteer Drivers Schemes.
- Our Manager, Samantha’s WGN fundraising challenge – taking part in May’s Great Manchester Run 10k. Any donation is welcome via her GoFundMe page here. Go Samantha!
- A new Age Friendly Manchester Strategy – ‘Manchester: a city for life’ 2023 – 2028.
- Local, Age Friendly Wythenshawe (AFW) news, including an update on the network’s community Corners.
- A new WGN series, ‘You asked – we found out’. We contacted Manchester City Council in response to WGN Member enquiries about bin collection, waste management, littering and reporting fly-tipping.
- Important changes to Elections and how to vote – most notably, the need to show a form of valid, hard-copy photo ID at polling stations, and accessibility information.
