Our December Newsletter has news of our community partners’ festive events – to which WGN Members are kindly invited. These include Christmas lunch at Wythenshawe Football Club and a String of Hearts Music Showcase.
Other Newsletter features include:
- An update on our new Volunteer Drivers Scheme – with a reminder to our newly-signed up Members that they can now book their journeys by telephoning our office. We have already had some very positive feedback from service users, including Brian who has used the scheme several times and said:
“10 out of 10 driving – and a nice chat.”

- What’s on at Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre including a Christmas Carol Concert on Monday 11 December, 12.30 – 3pm / Sequence Dancing and Ballroom Classes / Indoor Public Bowls.
- A feature on The University of Manchester’s Students’ Union Intergenerational Buddy Scheme (a student-led project, supported and overseen by staff). This telephone befriending scheme gives older members of the community a friendly opportunity to share their stories and experiences with student volunteers.
