Andy’s 2,024 miles cycling fundraiser for WGN
Wythenshawe Neighbourhood Officer, Andy Clarke, is taking 2024 by the handlebars! He has pledged to cycle a total of 2,024 miles this year to raise a target of £2,024 for Wythenshawe Good Neighbours (WGN).
Andy is a keen cyclist and aims to cover at least 200 miles most months from January through to October. Impressively, he even started on New Year’s Day!
He said of his challenge: “I wanted to raise funds for a local good cause. I chose Wythenshawe Good Neighbours as I’m very familiar with the great work they do in support of older residents to combat social isolation by connecting over 50s to their community. I love cycling to keep fit and do my bit for the environment, so a bike challenge to complete 2,024 miles for a local good cause during 2024 sprang to mind.”
Samantha Days, WGN Manager said: “We’re thrilled that WGN is the chosen good cause for Andy’s incredible fundraising challenge. ‘Wheel’ be with him all the way as he cycles 2024 miles this year and we wish him the best of luck!”
Andy’s fundraising target is to raise £2,024 for WGN. Money raised will help us to continue providing our services for older residents. These include community coffee mornings and lunch, day trips, resilience resources, seasonal activities, collaborative projects, a Volunteer Drivers Scheme and more.
