Marie Greenhalgh News

Thursday 6th February at the Museum of Science and Industry Marie Greenhalgh founder and lead of Wythenshawe Good Neighbours alongside community colleagues, shared in a fantastic cerebration of age friendly engagement across greater Manchester. Fifty Three neighbourhoods were recognised for their age friendly practices or working towards being more age friendly. Practices that include connecting older people to their community, listening to what older people have to say about the services that impact on their lives and positivism around ageing. Marie Greenhalgh explained,

“Today Andy Burnham GM Mayor presided over a group presentation at MOSI. The gathered groups witnessed how every neighbourhood has unique needs and wants. We celebrated the creative and innovative ways communities come together in amazing partnerships to reduce social isolation, to deliver services that are useful, meaningful and requested by their older community members.”

Wythenshawe has been recognised for all the work they do in furthering the age friendly strategy. Cath Constable a Wythenshawe resident and a member of Wythenshawe Age Friendly Network , Marie Greenhalgh founder and Manager of Wythenshawe Good Neighbours and Emma Farrell from Buzz received the award on behalf of all the groups in Wythenshawe that engage with older residents.
